The Portable Flip Video Camera - The Easiest Camcorder Around

The Flip Video is an ultra portable camcorder made for simple video recordings. The camera comes in five versions: the Flip Video, the Flip Ultra, the Flip UltraHD, the Flip Video Mino, and the Flip Video MinoHD. The video cameras are made by a company named Pure Digital Technologies. It was first released in 2006 as a simple reusable variation of the one-time use video camera the company produced for CVS/Pharmacy.

The Flip Video was the first to be released under the Flip name, and is the standard version with a 640x480 resolution. It comes in a 1 GB and a 2 GB version with 30 minute and 60 minutes recording time, respectively, and a simple D-pad and small screen. The Flip Video also does not have an internal power source, so you will have to buy batteries when they run out.

All of the features for the Flip Video Ultra are the same, except they come in a variety of different colors. And the Flip Video UltraHD totes more storage and is optimal for HDMI out with 720p resolution. The Flip Video Mino has many features that the previous versions do not. The camcorder has a built-in lithium-ion battery, so you won't have worry about buying batteries all of the time, is about 2 ounces lighter than the others, and touch-sensitive buttons for the controls.

The new Flip Video MinoHD, released in 2009, is by far the best of these camcorders to be released. It has the same dimensions as the regular Mino, but it also records with 1,280x 720 HD resolution at 30 fps. This camcorder also has an internal storage of 4 GB or 8 GB and has a 2 hour battery life.

One of the things that have made these camcorder so innovative is the pop-out USB plug. With the pop-out plug you won't have to worry about losing the cord, which adds to its portability. Another thing is the ease of use. All you literally have to do it point and shoot your video.

With a easy installation process, the Flip Video software is also as simple to use as the cameras themselves. With the software you can extract the videos you have recorded right onto your computer hard drive or send them directly to a family member or friend. Also, if you are into sharing videos on social websites or YouTube, the software makes it easy to upload them directly to your account. The built-in software also features a video editing program. With this program, you can easily do simple editing, like changing the color of your video, adding music, or cutting parts out of the recording.

But, this product doesn't come without flaws. Some reviewers have had some issues with the camcorder, saying that the memory is too small and they would like an external memory card slot to boost their recording time. Some also say that the battery life could be longer and that the lack of settings on the camera is disappointing

All in all, the The Flip Camcorders. offer a great simple camcorder that has some of the best video quality compared to others on the market, has great price value, and is so easy to use that even inexperienced people will find it easy.

Flip Cameras are really high on my list for great reason. If you also agree feel free to visit my site to learn more helpful reviews about The Flip Camera.

How to Shop For A Flat Screen TV

It used to be easy to buy a television.

A few years ago, you just walked into a store, selected a well-known brand and screen size, and depending on the size of the television, you would likely take it home, plug it into a cable box and you were done.

Televisions today have bigger screens are more sophisticated. When you walk into an electronics store, eager salespeople start using words like plasma, LCD, 720p, 1080p, HDMI, Blu-Ray, refresh-rate, and HDTV. It can sound intimidating.

Not to worry. This short guide will provide the basic information that you'll need to buy a flat screen TV.

Perhaps, the biggest decision is what size flat screen do you need to buy?

If you plan to sit more than five feet away from the screen, you'll need to buy at least a 32 inch screen to take advantage of high definition TV, also known as HDTV. HDTV's run at much higher screen resolutions than old, analog TVs and require larger screens.

The second choice that you'll make when buying a flat screen TV is whether to buy a plasma or LCD screen.   Plasma screens are based on a technology similar to neon lighting. A gas flows through the glass panels and this allows for better motion detection and viewing angles than an LCD television.

LCD screens use the same technology as flat screen computer monitors and display in finer detail than plasma.

Until recently, the rule was if you plan to watch lots of sports, get a plasma, and if you plan to plug a computer and/or gaming console into your TV, get an LCD.

But the rules have changed. Refresh rates, the speed at which an image can change on an LCD screen have improved. Early LCD TVs had 50- to 60 megahertz (MHz) refresh rates, the same as a computer monitor. Slow refresh rates are fine for watching CNN, but lousy for viewing basketball. To get rid of the choppiness, LCD screens are now available with 120MHz and 240MHz refresh rates, which makes watching fast action on LCD TVs as smooth as plasma screens.

Not to be outdone, plasma screens have gotten sharper, but the biggest change in plasma TVs has been price. A 47- to 50-inch plasma screen TV costs several hundred dollars less than an LCD screen with a 120MHz to 240MHz refresh rate.

You will also need to decide whether to buy the TV with 720p or 1080p. These numbers refer to horizontal pixel counts. The higher the pixel count, the sharper the picture. Although based on a recent visit to Best Buy, both looked great and I had a hard time telling the difference. If you plan to just watch broadcast TV, a 720p screen is fine, but if you plan on viewing high definition and Blu-Ray DVDs, you will want 1080p to take advantage of the higher pixel count.

So which is better LCD or plasma?

I suggest visiting a big electronics store, like Best Buy or J&R, and plan to look at both LCD and plasma and decide for yourself. Ask the salesperson to show different types of programming, like a football game and a news person on CNN. If you plan on watching DVDs, ask them to play a Blu-Ray disc and see how it looks. Also, look at the screen from different angles. LCD screens are supposed to distort images if they are not viewed from straight on. But I personally didn't see any distortion on an LCD screen when I viewed it at a 45 degree angle.

Here are some other terms that you should understand before shopping for a TV.

Q. What is HDTV and how it is different?

A. HDTV is more than twice as detailed as the old, bulky analog tube television that it replaces. Analog TV has a resolution that is equal to about 640 by 480 pixels. HDTV has a maximum 1920 by 1080 resolution. This provides for a picture that is six-times sharper than analog TV.

Q. What is an HDMI cable and port?

A. HDMI means High-Definition Multimedia Interface. It is used to connect flat screen TVs with other devices, like DVD players, sound systems, computers and gaming consoles.

Q. What is Blu-Ray?

A. Blu-Ray is a format used to create high definition movie and video game DVDs. Like HDTV, it shows movies in much greater detail.

A Detailed Comparison of High Definition Camcorders

Do you have a lot of "wish I had a camcorder" moments? If so, this is the time to buy one. With High Definition being on the forefront of technology, you're options have never been greater. The question at hand is how to choose.

HD is no longer the future, it's here. With an over-abundance of options, no one is quite sure what to make of it. I'd like to break it down for you.

HD video is a higher resolution than standard definition. SD camcorders produce a 640 x 480 resolution. This means the frame is 640 lines wide and 480 lines tall. As 16:9 widescreen formats became common, camcorders increased to a resolution of 720 x 480.

Currently, there are two HD formats competing for your attention, 720p and 1080i. As if all the numbers weren't enough, someone goes and throws letters in, too! The first refers to a camcorders ability to produce up to a resolution of 1280 x 720. The second refers to the ability to produce 1920 x 1080, a higher resolution for increased quality. Easy to understand, right? Now, let's get to the letters. The "i" and the "p" describe how the digital recorder incorporates motion. The "i", which stands for interlaced, is the traditional format. Camcorders split up the verticals and horizontals, and refreshes them at a rate of 30 times per second, alternating back and forth. This is fast enough that the human eye can not detect the miniscule lag, however, a noticeable jaggedness appears when paused.

The "p" stands for progressive. This means that the entire image is refreshed at the same time, 30 times per second. This ultimately produces a much smoother motion, and is the preferred choice for sports, or videos that must be frozen, as it will not have the jaggedness that 1080i produces. Unfortunately, 720p has less resolution.

1080p is another term popular for televisions. As you might have guessed, it means 1920 x 1080 progressive. Lots of TVs can support it for playback, but currently very few consumer camcorders actually record in 1080p.

Now that you've decided on the quality you want, it's time to decide how you'd like to save your moments. There are many media types available for this purpose. One choice, the most common, is the memory card. It is by far the most convenient, battery-friendly, and very compact option. While capacities of the cards are limited, their size makes it easy to carry multiples at one time.

You may prefer the HDD media, which stands for Hard Disc Drive. This is high capacity, usually 60-120 gigabytes, intended for long record times. Routine backup is necessary, and most users find the need for an external hard drive to accompany it.

Also available is miniDVD discs. This is convenient because so many of us are familiar with it. The downfall is that you may have a maximum of 15 recording minutes at the highest quality, and you cannot play these DVD's from HD camcorders on a home system unless you have a Blu-Ray player.

The HDC-TM10-($599 MSRP) represents the newest additions to Panasonic's consumer HD camcorder line. The camcorders are essentially more compact, repackaged versions of Panasonic's previous mid-range HD camcorders (the HDC-TM20, SD20, and HS20). The HDC-TM10 has the same sensor, pixel count, and optical zoom as these larger, cousin models-and it also captures Full HD video at 1920 x 1080.

The Sony HDR-TG5V- ($999 MSRP) has been outfitted with a new menu system, a redesigned LCD touch screen, and includes 16GB of internal flash memory. Sony also changed the color scheme a bit and made the new TG5V slightly more compact than the HDR-TG1. Its benefits stem from a sleek design, durable body, and unique handling experience.

The Panasonic HDC-TM300- (MSRP $1299.99) The TM300 has a slim profile that's very comfortable to hold and easy on the eyes. It has amazing video and records well in all lighting conditions, captures surprisingly good still photos, and has just about every feature you could want in consumer camcorders. Combine that with some user-friendly automatic controls and you have a recipe for one of the best camcorders of 2010.

If you're shopping for a new camcorders right now, HD is absolutely the way to go. In a couple of years, HD will be the standard for recording and displaying all types of video. While there are still a lot of good standard definition camcorders out there, they won't look as good when blown up on your LCD TV. Shooting in HD means that you're future-proofing your memories for as long as HD exists. Of course, HD will eventually be replaced by something even better, but that isn't expected for quite some time. Shop smart, consider your needs, and shop comparatively to get the right camcorder for you. Make sure you're never again stuck in a "wish I had a camcorder" moment again.

HDTV Buying Tips

Shopping for the right HDTV is not an easy task - it can be quite daunting. What features are important when making a decision? How do you compare different models of TVs? How do you make sense of it all? This article should help you understand the ins and outs of shopping for a HDTV.

Understanding some of the technical specifications of high definition televisions will make it easier to select the right one for you. First, make a selection based on native resolution (this is the number of horizontal pixels by vertical pixels the has the capability to display.) TVs with a higher native resolution produce a better picture. Sets with a 1080p display have a native resolution of 1920x1080 - anything lower than 720p is not truly a high definition television. Luckily HD TV prices have dropped significantly over the years, which means you can have your cake and eat it too.

The next item to consider with HDTV TVs is contrast ratio. What this boils down to is the difference between a white pixel and a black pixel (or the brightest image to the darkest). Again, the higher the ratio the better off you'll be when it comes to HD TV. If you select a 1080p TV, a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 is stellar - the picture quality of these TVs will blow you away. But there is one thing to watch out for when researching the contrast ratio of a HD TV. Sometimes the manufacturer will advertise a 10,000 or 15,000 ratio that really refers to the dynamic contrast ratio of the TVs, which is different. This is something to look out for when searching for a LCD HD because with a LCD television the contrast ratio tends to be on the low side. The dynamic ratio only reflects the amount of dark and bright luminosity that the television produces over a period of time.

Next, consider selecting from HDTVs with standard definition. Most people still watch many forms of media that are not made for high definition TV, so this is an important feature to have. Although HDTVs can display standard definition from DVDs, VHS, and satellite and cable, the picture quality is not up to par. Televisions that are designed to play standard definition are a better investment.

The video processor is also important. The computer inside the LCD HDTV is the brain behind high definition television - it processes the high definition TV signals coming into the set and displays them on the screen. If this part of the system is not up to scratch, the picture quality will suffer, no matter how good the other specifications are. A cheap HDTV processor leads to a disappointing experience. HD televisions are meant to be high quality. The easiest way to research processors is to read reviews on High Definition televisions and find out what the experts say about picture quality for each system you are considering. Whether purchasing a LCD, or any of the other HD TVs available, research is key.

Capturing Holiday Snaps With Digital Cameras

In the past, digital cameras were very expensive especially if you wanted a high quality one but that is no longer the case as competition in the market has meant a lowering of prices. This has paved the way for customers to buy a range of digital cameras at great prices and with superb quality that allows them to take great pictures and shoot high quality videos at any time.

Holidays are normally great fun and a time for trying a few new things. Water sports are a popular holiday activity especially the jet-bikes and jet-skies. If a friend or family member is going on it for the first time then it is time to get the camera out as there are likely to be some brilliant moments that you are going to want to capture. Sometimes a picture isn't enough and this is one of those moments so switch to a video and capture all the funny moments.

Speaking of videos, High Definition was available on a few cameras in the past couple of years but HD was only available digital cameras at the higher end of the market. However, many of the big brands have now released versions with HV video allowing us to capture all those moments in high definition (normally 720p). Camcorders are still better for video but it is definitely a step in the right direction and digital cameras are more compact and easier to carry around.

When you look at buying a digital camera it is important to consider other things than the megapixels it has. Bigger is not always better as the lens size, sensor and image processor all more important than the resolution and there are plenty of cameras that offer 10-14 megapixels so you can be choosy. Megapixels are something that many brands want to shout about but picture quality is a combination of things not just the resolution.

Holidays are great fun and taking a high quality camera with us on our trips is a brilliant idea. Make sure you choose the right one at the right price to ensure you get your money's worth and so that you can take pictures and videos that you can keep with you forever.

Samsung LN32B540P TV.LCD.720p.3HDMI.USB.PC Customer Review

I have owned this for about a year now. Unfortunately, this particular model is not made anymore. Samsung is replacing it with the LN32C540. That being said, this is a good LCDTV for anyone new to the HD field to start out with. I'm sure the next 540 will be as well. Despite being only 720p, the picture (using a Sony upconversion DVD player [DVP-NS710H] and a Media Bridge HDMI cable) is amazingly crisp thanks to the customized picture settings I've done. Samsung is known for their sharp, clear, vibrant picture quality and this series 5 isn't any different. What blows my mind is that this is only on a DVD player which upconverts to near HD. If I had a Blu-Ray player, I imagine it would be even better, not to mention the Blu-Ray quality.

Features are nice, as there's plenty of aforementioned picture setting choices, you can adjust everything from the standard sharpness and tint to the white balances. Sound adjustment options are piled fairly high, allowing for a truly customized experience. Considering these are TV speakers (and are mounted underneath the set, downfiring) the sound is decent. The amount of source hookups is delightful. 3 HDMI (with one on the side), two component, two A/V (one on the side), one PC and audio outlets for a home theater system. Plenty of means for entertainment. I have my old PS2 hooked up through component (A/V was blurry though not intolerable, but I still wanted a better picture) and while there's some ghosting and it can get a pixelish, it's pretty good. Much better than you can expect from an almost ten year old console viewing on a one year old, flat panel television. There's a USB plug too, allowing for software updates from the Samsung site. My only gripe about the set is how switching between sources is structured. There aren't buttons for each one, which is understandable since there's so many. You have to press the Source button on the remote until you reach the one you want. Tedious, but not torturous. It helps train me on having patience too.

Aesthetics are top notch. Samsung knows how to make an HDTV look great, as this was has their trademark piano black finish and the Touch of Color on the transparent bar underneath with the attractive red line. An overall great set. My next one will be a Samsung.
