How and why I bought a 3D TV

My 6 yr old television started to fail and I knew it was time for a new one. I went to the electronics store and checked out the HDTV's and came across a 3D TV. As I watched a music concert in 3D, I was absolutely amazed at the experience. I could actually see depth and see people. It kind of made looking at 2D television as though they were cardboard cutouts.
My mind was made up, I was going tohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif buy a 3D TV, now the question I had to answer was which one.
I went home jumped on my computer and googled everything and here is some info that I found:
*3D TVs are really just HDTVs with a 3D TV add on
*3D content is not widely available right now my local cable company has 3D content on it's channel and there is ESPN 3D and some movies are broadcast in 3D .
*3D Television requires glasses that will set you back as much as $200, 3D movies also requires a Blu-Ray player for 3D movies as well.
Knowing these facts I was still set on buying one, primarily because my belief in the future of 3D Television. After extensive research I was set to buy a Panasonic or a Samsung 3DTV
After all my investigation I decided to get a 50in Samsung Plasma 3D Television that came bundled with two pairs of 3D glasses and a Blu-Ray Player.
Fortunately I had a PS3 so I decided I would use my PS3 as my Blu-Ray player. I tested the PS3 on various 3D movies and it faired ok. I was happy with the PS3s functionality and even though the PS3 doesn't support HDMI 1.4 I was satisfied. I ended up returning the bundled Blu Ray player for credit.
Final verdict: I definitely love my 3D Tv and am ecstatic that I purchased it.
HDTV is excellent and seeing Nature programs, films, and sports in 3D provides me with a more immersive experience. I am very satisfied with my purchase, I just wish there was more 3D programming out there.
