Specifications: HD televisions are all the rage nowadays, but most of them come at a hefty price that most of us are not that willing to pay for. Fortunately, there is a slew of hi-performance HDTVs out there that are designed for budget-conscious consumers. The Panasonic TC-P50X1 is a 50-inch plasma TV that plays HD videos at a 720p HD resolution. This may not be a 1080p HD television but the truth is, you can barely tell the difference between a 720p and a 1080p video playback unless you watch the movie really close to the TV. It comes with 2 hidden speakers that produce a total of 20 watts in audio power. Connectivity wise, this model comes with 3 HDMI ports, two component video inputs and several other standard connectors.
Design: The Panasonic's TC-P50X1 plasma TV has a very classy design, consisting of an all-black glossy frame and a rectangular stand. The only color accent is the silver strip located below the screen. This model measures at 48 x 3.7 x 30.3 inches and weighs at 75 pounds. For this new model, there were several improvements in it user interface. The main menu consists of several large icons that make it really easy to use.
Features & Performance: As this model is considered to be an entry-level model, the Panasonic's TC-P50X1 plasma TV comes with an array of standard settings. Contrast, brightness, color, tint and sharpness are some of the adjustable settings. There is also a Game mode and you can also adjust the aspect ratio of your video playback. The basic feature set that comes with this model is more than sufficient for ordinary, non-tech-incline folks like myself. The picture quality was generally very good, with deep black-levels and pretty sharp images. Despite is glossy screen surface; the screen reflected very little light even under bright lighting conditions. All in all, considering the price, video playback quality and the feature set, the Panasonic's TC-P50X1 plasma TV is an excellent choice for those who are looking to get a large HDTV without breaking the bank.
